Knighton – Mellington Hall

8 July 2025. Up at 05:15, away 06:30. Only 30 mins to get up the hill. The first of what would be 6 climbs and descents. Talking to walkers on is portion of the track it seems to me the most hilliest. Most of today’s walk follows the earth embankments of the Dyke.

Joanne passed me having a break at around 09:30 and a WhatsApp call to Anara in NZ. I caught her later having a break and we finished the last couple of hills together before she reached her BnB. Mellington Hall campsite was another km along.

On the way one house by the track was advertising refreshments for a charity donation, so I had a cup of tea along with my lunch snack of crackers and cheese.

My bother Nick is joining me tomorrow, so he has arrived in Montgomery staying overnight at the Dragon Hotel. He picked me up from the campsite and we had dinner back at the Dragon.

23 km today.
