7 Feb. Not a great night’s sleep in the Carlton Mills Hotel; need to get back to bush sleeping! Nothing wrong with the comfortable hotel room. The hotel has a guest laundry, so with the first laundry load I had a full breakfast at Vic’s Cafe a short walk away.
On my 45 min walk to the Bivouac outdoor gear store for some tramping items, I got a grade 2 haircut from Mike at “My Fathers Barber”. Should last me a month.
Bivouac didn’t have the aerosol gas canisters I needed, but fortunately a nearby Bunnings Store did. What would a bloke’s shopping trip be without a wander around the Bunnings aisles. 😊 The shopping trip took most of the day, walking around 12km through and around the city suburbs.
Late afternoon I went to the cinema with a new friend, Anara, to see the new film For Sama. The film documents people’s struggle to survive in Aleppo and the resilience of people under such conditions is unbelievable . Worth seeing, but it is very very raw!

What we we do without a trip to Bunnings

Saw quite a few wild goats in the Richmond Range. Fantails (piwakawaka) and the South Island Robin (toutiuwai) have kept me company on the trails.
