Wernog Wood Campsite – Bodfari

14 July 2025. Up 04:30 away 06:00. Climbed back onto the trail and met Roddy and Yvonne at the Moel Famau car park at 07:30 and continued walking with Roddy. The route followed the Clwydian Range, not quite over every peak but near enough. Nice breeze and good views.

We had a couple of breaks arriving at the Station Campsite at 14:30 (£12). Jan directed us to a nice flat spot and recommended the local pub, Dinorben Arms, where we had a couple of beers and dinner. Very nice pub.

20 km today.

Hi Richard I did send a comment through one of your blogs but I didn’t really know what I was doing and am unsure if it went through correctly, so am now trying this method. Hope it gets through. I’m thoroughly enjoying your walk through lovely Wales. Fiona….

Hi Richard. Back in February 2020 a friend (Sheila) and I met you at Manuka Hut when you were walking the TA (Te Araroa) in New Zealand. And then, out of the blue, you pop up in my email walking Offa’s Dyke Path. I’m so chuffed to see you do this as I’m hoping to do the Coast to Coast Walk and Offa’s Dyke Path next year. I’m so enjoying your trip, the countryside is wonderful and it’s quite different from Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, and that’s one reason why I’d like to do the two walks. I see you have changed your Tarptent, to a Double Rainbow? I bought one during Covid lock-down and I love it, though it’s untested during heavy rain and strong winds. After you’ve completed the walk, I’d like talk to you about the logistics, etc if that is ok with you…packing, camping all the way through, etc. Anyway, enjoy the trip and fingers crossed for good weather. Cheers Fiona Butterick

    1. Hi Fiona,
Just finished at Prestatyn. The double rainbow worked well. Very comfortable and light. Happy to talk through logistics. Might be easier when I am back in NZ after 21 Aug.
      Cheers, Richard

Great fun following your trail. Might get to join you for a leg one of these days. Dartmoor was tremendous.
