Bodfari – Prestatyn

16 July 2025. Up 04:30 away 05:15. The weather was changing and rain was forecast for later morning, hence the earlier start.

We had rain overnight but it was clear while we packed up. We were expecting a less hilly day but ended up with three reasonable climbs. We managed to avoid the worst of the rain and only had our water proofs on once briefly despite some constant light drizzle. The route was less scenic than it had been but continued to weave its way through the Clwydian Hills.

It is a steep descent into Prestatyn from a 200m escarpment. Prestatyn is quite a dismal place with no smiles from the locals. After the beachfront photo, we stopped for a beer and a light lunch before catching the train to Chester, where I stayed with Roddy and family for the night. Lovely hospitality.

Arrived at Prestatyn beach 12:25. 21 km today.

Leaving for the final day
Climb out of Bodfari
Looking back
In between showers
Valley of the Mills – old water mill
Prestatyn and the end of the trail
Entering local streets

Thanks for a fantastic couple of days Richard, really enjoyed it and great to catch up on the old days and swap stories.

Give our best to the family, enjoy the rest of the break and have a safe trip back to NZ.

From all the Park gang, including Titch and that little traitor Hamish.

what, no bathing-suit finish photo? A bit disappointing after all this hard trading no bathingsuit picture on the beach.
love and best wishes from Stef
